His Take:
First, I can’t thank my co-blogger enough for letting me goof-off this week and write once again about my favorite sport (yeah, it’s a sport. We can discuss this outside if you like) Professional Wrestling!! I only try to voice my opinion on wrestling because the IWC is so large and overflowing that I’m willing to put money down that there’s more internet space devoted to it than football and basketball combined. But, if there’s a chance I can turn someone else on to something that I enjoy so much, I’m gonna take it.
At 7pm this past Monday night, the biggest week in professional wrestling history. Big words, I know, but I mean it and you can ask anyone else who follows pro wrestling and they will agree. Why? Glad you asked. The Mayor is a fraud! Monday night kicked off the “season premiere” of Monday Night Raw. This is a big deal because there aren’t normally season premieres for wrestling. In fact, there’s no seasons because wrestling is a year-round sport. But, on Monday they debuted a brand new set, a brand new announce team, and a lot more. Tuesday, IMPACT Wrestling made it’s move from some no name network which I’d tell you about, but I honestly don’t remember what it was, to the AXS network where it will be seen in millions of more households.
The night everyone’s on the edge of their seat for, is Wednesday night. When a brand new wrestling “league” debuts on TNT. This league is called AEW and it’s the first new wrestling company with money and TV behind it in almost 40 years. Not only does it boast an impressive roster of veteran wrestlers, announcers, and production staff, but most impressive of all is the young up & comers they’ve got in their company. Including actor Luke Perry’s son who’s future is very bright. Going up against this new company is another new company. Well, maybe new to you is a more accurate description. The WWE’s developmental system is called NXT. It’s a place where the next generation of WWE Superstars preform. Before I forget to mention that it’s freakin’ awesome?!?!?!?! It’s existed for a while, but Wednesday night it makes it’s prime time debut on the USA network. Before that it was only available on the WWE Network & via the streaming service Hulu.
Think you’ve hit your limit of wrestling for the week? You haven’t. Because WWE NXT UK debuts it’s new night and time on Thursday at 7pm on the WWE Network. By the way, if you don’t have the WWE Network, it’s only $9.99 a month and it has more content than Netflix.
I hope you’re not sick of wrestling yet, because on Friday is the biggest night of them all!!! Why? Because for the first time ever, a professional wrestling show comes to network television as part of it’s regular line-up when Smackdown comes to the FOX network. This one is gonna be big. I mean really big. They have more guest stars listed for that night that I can even begin to list, and they’ll be joining the regular Smackdown Superstars. I highly recommend catching this if at all possible.
Okay, it’s Saturday and that means FUN!!! You’re in luck, because Saturday has the most out and outright fun hour of wrestling that’s being produced and that is WOW, women of wrestling. From the man who created GLOW in the 80’s comes this current all women’s wrestling company that features great wrestling, larger than life characters and a whole lot of laughs.
Sunday is the Lord’s day, so go to Church and enjoy some fellowship and coffee, juice and rolls. If you’ve never watched wrestling before or don’t want to watch it because it’s “fake”, just try watching one of these shows, because I guarantee you’re going to like one of them. It’s a very, very good time to be a wrestling fan.
